Default Rod side clearence???

Hey everyone. Just got finished tearing apart my buddies bottom end to check the rod bearings and have a question. He was having a light knocking noise coming from his block and thought it was rod knock. It doesn't go away when it warmes up but it is only audible at idle. It is a stock block b18c1 with eagle crank, eagle H rods and wiesco pistons. Heres the problem. I know that the rods are supposed to have a bit of side clearence on the crank but should you be able to "slide" the rod back and forth on the crank fairly easily? I've got .008 of an inch side clearence on each rod journal. Also the bearings are also well within spec. I need some info on this guys and you help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Service Limit-----0.40 mm (0.016 in)

I doubt your knock was from too much side clearance. You may see a slight drop in oil pressure from excessive clearance but I have never noticed any noise.
