Default Anyone have experience with D2 suspension ??? considering Function Form too...

im going to be buying new suspension soon, so im weighing my options. im wanting to keep it around $700. im looking at this D2 stuff, Function Form, and of course Tein basic. im leaning toward the D2 and Function Form because they have adjustable dampening, and the lower end Tein's dont. i dont know much about function form or d2 stuff, so i was just looking for some outside input. thanks!

here's a link to the stuff im looking at:

the D2 stuff

The only major thing I heard is that sometimes they leak after you put them on and drive around a bit. More of a hassle because you have to send them back. Other than that their has not been any major issues that I know about?? Unless someone wants to post up.

would there be a big difference in the 24-way and 36-way adjustability? i am leaning towards the F2 cause they are sold from a sponsor on here for 800 shipped with the lower control arms.........

OMG whatever you do do not get the D2s! I had Hayames on my ES2 (2003 civic) and they were the best I had ever had. I've used Springs and done a bizilion installs for others as a mechanic. I got the Hayames because I knew they were Japanese made, a 3 perch design which is the only way to go low and retain the full travel of you struts. After that version 1 they made version 2 and had a few issues with people and them. So the contract was sold to OmniPower. They are still teh best for your money and IMO better than most 2 perch setups out there for much more.
The reason I say all this is after I got hit I lost the Hayames cause they are no longer made. I too bought the D2s. They were horrible. They were bouncy awhich tells you the rates for the struts and springs didn't match and they were soft even after "adjusted" to a harder valve setting but they were a shitty two-perch design that you can only go so low on because the base couldn't move, only the spring up and down on the threaded shaft of the strut, then locked with the second ring. Shitty. Please, if you are going to spend the money get the OmniPower ones. I plan to as well when I get the money after starting over with this DC2.
A pic of the D2s in the ES2

a pic of the Hayame/OmniPower Coilover 3-perch design

The drop with the Hayames and I could have gone much further (with 205/50R15s)

This is as low as the D2s would go with 185/65/15s and that was a lil work. Suck.

Wow....CrackheadDC2, you have NO idea what you are talking about. D2's ARE a 3-perch design, which means they have seperate height and preload adjustment so you can lower your car without losing any shock travel. You're either lying and have never used D2's in your life, or you're retarded and tried to adjust the height by turning the preload perch (like on sleeve-type coilovers). The height on D2's is adjusted by turning the bottom mount, just like any "full coilover" out there. I had a set of D2's on my old eg civic and just installed a set on my integra. I have never had a problem with them whatsoever. Please don't make false claims if you have no idea what you are talking about.

Looks like a 3-perch design to me

please don't get like that. That I have no Idea what I am talking about. I too saw that picture and ordered them, but I also owned a 2003 honda Civic. When I got them I was pissed to see that it was a two perch design. I wanted my money back but they said well hay thats all you need to go. You don't need to drop lower. I was like wa? So MAYBE the DC@ D2s are different but the ride and such were still shitty THAT was my point. I am just adding my experience so saying that I am retarded and such is uncalled for. Thanks again. Steve

I also live right down the road from the importer for D2 North America and have used them on all of my cars and have personaly only seen 2 or three pair come back with oil issues and the only reason why was there were about 25 sets sent out to the USA that were filled with the wrong gas and fluid for our climate here. As soon as the issue was found D2 racing the leading headquaters out of Tiawan flew the (2) D2 technicans out here personally to rebuild and repair all of the coilovers sent to the USA before they hit the market. Please do not make false claims. Tomorrow I will post a pic of your coil overs and you are right they are not three perch design on yours and that is one of about 3 that are not, and I am sure if you call him he will answer any and all questions or concerns that you need to be cleared up on.

I have never driven an 03 civic with D2s so i dont know how they ride so I cant say from any personal experience on how they ride but in both EM1 and S13 They ride better than any other brand of full coilover in my oppinon

I have used them on if you are wondering my Sold supercharged EM1 and my current KA-T S13
