Default Why are used Civic so expensive????

Had a 97 Civic LX. Paid $13K new, sold it last year for 5K with mods. 5 spd 110K.

How looking for a Civic again. 99 Civic HX with 69K miles, 5spd. And the dealer wants 14K and willing to give me a deal at 13K!!!! WTF.

I said nicely it was way too much. He don't give a s...... Take it or leave it. No counter, not even try to go KBB.

Have Civics gone up that much? Is the market for old Civic gone mad?

P.S. I have looking at Integra too, the overall market seem higher than a few months ago. Have gas prices really push compact used cars up???

He's trying to exploit customers by using the fact that HX's get 40+ mpg. Tell him to expletive off. My brothers 99 EX was 7k with 100k miles, and that was 2 years ago. That car isnt worth more than 5.

try looking for a private seller.. dealers are just horrible to go to,, even worse if used car imo i remember i went to a honda dealer. looking for a hatck.. they told us it was 12k. we were like.. oh.. we only wanted to spend 8..(which was still high for that car) and the guy was like so if i do it for 8 u will buy it ? we just ran from there, u figure why didnt he offer a better price in the beginnning

I don't mind paying a bit more from a dealer (if the car was checked out, cleaned, etc.) This is just out right wrong what they are asking. Especially if the 07 Civic DX MSRP is about 15K.

that is way too much for a HX...i wouldn't even pay that much for a 99-00 Si...that price should be a used GSR...or maybe a Type R...with high mileage...

I think it subjective to the market you live in. Last year after the hurricanes I had a bitch of a time finding a 97-98 HX or EX coupe here in Cali. I everyone i found that was "under or around blue book" was beat up run down rice.

Blue Book is great for banks, but misleading for consumers. THE BMW E30 M3 is a perfect example try finding one for that they claim they are worth.

Ditto for the Corolla AE86, once a $1000 car now I rarely see them for under $3k

CRX's are another perfect example.

Private seller. If you're worried, take it to a reputable shop to get it checked out. Our shop charges $95 for a general vehicle inspection which will give you everything/anything we can find out about the car. Don't go through the hassle with dealerships. And even at dealerships, they just try and bullsh!t their way through a few cars here and there. I will not go into detail but trust me. I've seen plenty...

01 Civic EX with 54K miles for 6,000$ that's a good *** discount. Plus on top of that i sold the car and made 500$ profit and learned to drive stick and was my first car so you can imagine. How much i abused it.

IMO...there is really no point in buying a used Honda from a dealership unless it's literally a steal. It's funny how the car salesman pretends to know so much about the car even though he has never owned one. Do yourself a favor and just stick to owner sold vehicles: way easier to haggle with the price. Oh yeah..one more thing...I would NEVER buy anyone's customized ride. That's just me.

oh yeah. i got my 92 civic cx for $1500. not only that, the dude wrote it off as $700. so i saved on tax also. and the car had new tabs. jesus i get over 40mpg the way i drive too. i love my honda!

but i saw a dealer trying to sell a 94 dx for like $5000. i was liek wtf. with 178k miles. and a vx for $6000 because it gets "super mpg". dealers are rip offs, thats how they make their money but hey i wouldnt mind if i worked there =D!

ps. i used to drive an accord 4dr, super luxury with leather seats sunroof etc but no way am i gonna go back to 20mpg.
