Default Whats the best bet for new motor and trans in 1990 4 door civic?

I would like to transplant a motor in my civic but I don't know which route to take. If I took the street, which would be better? What parts do you recommend and turbo or supercharged? And If I want to build just strictly for drags, which motor and parts etc.? Can anybody help me?

Easiest - ZC swap - straight bolt in, you can use your tranny and everything
Easiest B swap - B18A (expect to pay around $1,500 to get it in the car or so)
Easiest for power - B16A (expect to pay about $2,500 to get it in the car)
Best for drag all motor - B18C (expect to pay around $3,500 to get it in)
B16A is probably best for basic turbo applications

Just drop in an LS engine. The added torque of a 1.8L will help make the car a lot more drivable, plus the LS engines are more forgiving to turbo than B16's are. Or you could opt for alittle more cash and drop in a turbo'd b20.....that would be sick

BTW ~ Turbo fever baby!

I would contest to your last idea of the B16A being best for basic turbo apps.

Personally I recommend LS Motors. They have more potential in the long run for upgrades.

If you only plan on running a Drag kit or Rev Hard at 6-8 psi, it is the best engine for that. The higher compression and VTEC will allow you to spool up faster, and the extra redline gets you more hp than the B18A will get you.

Just my opinion .....

b16a is a lot of fun and is what I have in my 91 EX 4 door - gone 13.98 @ 99.41 mph. Not turbo power but COLD reliable.....
