I have the Apex'i N1 exhaust. Sounds nice, guess it makes power along w/ the other mods, and w/ the silencer its not THAT loud...w/o the silencer piece in the tip it is HELLA loud, Not quite as bad as the spoon i think (correct me if I'm wrong guys) but the mugen is by far the quietest, but also the most expensive....

Good Luck

mugen is quiet, yet very agressive sounding... best sounding exhaust i have heard.

What is the outter diameter of those mufflers? 2.5in? I am planning to get a muffler with 2.5 inch custom piping in the near future so I am looking for a nice 2.5 inch muffler to match it.

seeing how the search is working fine there would be no need for this type of question.
I am not trying to start something, however, I just went into the search function,
Type R, and Archived, and typed in Toda, nothing, Spoon, Nothing, Exhuast, Nothing.

So, it appears it's not working fine now is it! I've been here much longer, AND I know that since the archives were lost, many, many important topics Have NOT been re-discussed. So just answer his question, like I should be doing! Anyway, search is NOT working fine.

I didn't even know H-T had a Newbie section......I thought you were being a smart a$$ until I ventured outside of the ITR section (which is rare, besides the competion forum) and found it just now.

i don't think my question is a NEWBIE question. i search, and something show but doesn't answer my question that's it. i'm just trying to ask someone who really has it on their car and asking for personal opinions.

Just thought this has been beaten to death with the right hand one to many times, and seeing how the search is working fine there would be no need for this type of question.
Try searching the archives. IT DOESN'T WORK. The only way I found to search the archive effectively is if you know who created the ticket. The archived topics are still on the server but the only way to search it is by Creator.

want mo?
Yeah I want mo! Tell me how to search then, or else you can be the official H-T search monkey if you want to sit here and keep it a secret!

I haven't figured out how to use it besides searching by creator.
Try and find an old ATS post not searching by creator smart 455.

Don't let these guys wear you down... if these topics didn't get recycled this board would turn into a litanty of "burn it to the ground", "smoke weed everyday", and the other nonsense (not that it's bad, but the frivolity gets old, too.)

In response to your question.

Mugen - mellow, but throaty. Good street exhaust - won't get you tickets. (Own it)

Spoon (N1) - too loud for the street. Alleged good power, but we're talking 1 or 2 peak whp, here... it won't make or break you. Add a silencer = loose the power.

A'pex - they have several... I heard a "Dunk" on 98-1035 (back in the day) and it sounded good and deep, but the tip was absurdly large...

Just opinions.

If you're really after performance for the money, get a custom 2.5" system. If money is no object, get the Hy-Tech Twin-Loop (if you don't mind waiting).

Mugen = decent power, not too loud. Agressive sounding.

Spoon n1 = Axle back. NOT ment for the streets. VERY loud. More than just 1-2whp peak, more like 5whp depending on application. With silencer, still very very loud.

Apexi n1 = good gains, and great system overall. Loud without the silencer but tolerable with the silencer in.

How long is the wait for the hytech muffler and what is the expected cost? I plan to get 2.5 inch custom piping and I am looking for a nice quiet muffler with a 2.5 inch diameter as well. Does the mugen have a 2.5 inch OD? Is the spoon n1 louder than the apexi n1?

Whatever you get, don't get just the axle back. Catback all the way.

Check out the power I gained with the Kakimoto R 70mm catback over the Spoon N1 axle back here.

Those really aren't fair because your comparing an axle back to a catback.

But the Spoon N1 axle back cost almost as much as most of the catback out there.

That what I tried to say, for almost the same amount of money, get a catback, and don't waste the money on just the axle back. Well, unless all you care is look and the axle back is much cheaper than the catback.

From King's site: 60.5 mm = 2.38", I assume O.D.? And it looks like t=1.5mm.
So, maybe I.D. = 2.26" ((60.5mm-3mm)/25.4)

You know you want Mugen!

If you are looking for power and not loud, I would say definitely Mugen.

Not really.

Spoon n1 = $375
Apexi N1 = $460-500
Mugen = $975

How well would my exhaust flow with 2.5 inch piping and 2.38" muffler? bottleneck? Or would 2.25 inch piping be a better size for my exhaust? Also you can buy just the mugen muffler for around $490. Does anyone know where I can get some information on the hytech muffler? Prices, pics, etc...
