EK9 Type R, Overheating?
Hey guys i have a probelm. When i was driving yesterday i noticed my temp gauge go all the way up. I stoped the car and checked the radiator and the reserve for coolant and it had in it. I started it back up and noticed it didnt happen yet. this happend to me twice already. It doesnt leak or anyting like that. Could it be the fan, or thermostat? How can i check to see if the fan works. Thanx
Typically Honda thermostats fail in the open position. In this scenario, cars temps tend to be cold when driving but rise when the car is stopped. But hey it's worth a shot. Also try bleeding the cooling system. Airbubble can also cause overheating.
You can check the fan by jumping the thermostat switch with a paperclip. HTH

to check and see if its your thermostat, usually after driving, feel your upper and lower radiator hoses, if one is hot and one is cold, means you need a new thermostat.
i had a civic with a b16 , tha temp gauge would go up if i sat there for a minute or so , but if i started driving it went down , it was weird , and that motor sucks anywyas , so i never fixed it , but similar problem-- prob thermo
