Default 98 Accord Vent shut valve replacement help

Ok guys I need help on this like topic states. I know where it is and how to replace it but heres the deal. How do you get the screws off?

Mine are all rusted and they are a philips head screw, not bolt. I tried to use a philips to take it out but its so rusted that the 4 head part where you stick the screw driver in is all rusted too. When I turn, it just rounds it out so the screw driver isnt doing anything.

I have that one kit for rounded bolts from sears but its too fat and wont clear to get to the screw. It should work but it doesnt clear.

Any ideas on how to get that screw out?

Yeah those screws are usually so rusted out that all the techs at my dealership just replace both the vent shut value and canister as a part of the repair.

the canister is 69.62 so most customers don't have a problem doing both, and u wouldn't have to worry about the canister going bad as well.

Well I usually end up using a small pair of vice grips. Or just use gorilla like force with my weight pushing againt the screwdriver and using a wrench on the screwdriver.
Also you could try tapping your screwdriver with a hammer to break them loose (of course with the screwdriver on the screws)
Be sure the o-ring is put on correctly. (shoot it with a little silicone before you put it in)

The vent shut valve is 68.98? The canister was more when I asked.

Then their probably charging higher then sugg list

The vent shut value should have been 52.12

That's with out a discount, if u want i can send u a canister for maybe less than 50 depending on where u live and how u want it shipped.

I use vicegrips to break them loose. If that doesn't work I replace the canister.

I got the vent shut valve for 40 cuz they have a ebay auction and they decided to match it when I brought it up.

I think he said the cansiter was like $80 or something.

I'll try the vice grips and see what happens.
