Please Help! Civic wont start.
hello I'm new to the site as u can see and i've been looking at everyones posts and cant find a solution to my problem . I was reccomended by everyone of my friends to ask here so i am going to explain what happened to me as much as i can. My car is a 1990 honda civic dx and about a week ago, my car was in a shop for a month i had a B16A si-r 0BD0 motor put in it and i also did the automatic to manual swap on my car. So i finally get the car and i'm happy because i finally get to drive my car and a day later the thing dies on me on the highway. So my friend helps me out and he checks everything on my engine the compression was all at 185 on all 4 cylinders the timing belt wasnt snapped (which was what we thought the problem was) the ecu wasn't throwing out any codes at all! So we turn the ignition key and my car makes loud backfire noises through the exhaust and sounds like it wants to start but can't. My friend says its either the distributor or the ecu itself? Has this happened to anyone and can anyone help me? Thanks and i would appreciate the help.

If it is backfiring,
Something is out of time..
Check the distributor rotor to see if the bolt came out first.
If that's not it,the timing belt might have jumped..

I agree take off the belt and make sure its at tdc also make sure the rotor dosen't move ive seen the cam so warn that the rotor dosen't turn the right speed there shouldn't be any slop in the rotor
Well I finally found my problem my ignition module in my distributor was cracked and my distributor cap was blown on the inside and plastic melted inside! I spent the whole day looking for a replacement distributor or an ignition module for my b16a obdo 1st gen and no one has replacements. I desperately need someones help...my weekends ruined. lol. Anyone know of what distributor can i pull out of a junked car? maybe a del sol vtec distributor? I will go to a junkyard tommorow I would appreciate any info thanks!
