Default wiring a d16z6 into crx

alright, most of you have alreday been readin my other entry and writting back. my final question that needs answering. this makes sence to me but maybe i am nieve. If i have the complete 95 ex d16z6 engine...complete, unside down, inside and out and backwards, all sensors, injectors, distributor blah blah blah, and i will be using the 89 crx Si tranny race clutch and flywheel. I have the d16z6 manual ecu for that motor. Can i use all of the d16z6 engine parts, intake manifold, distributor, injectors, whatever...and just send off the 88 dx wire harness to somewhere like place racing and have it come back ready to plug in and play? or even get the harness for the 95 ex civic and have that sent off, which is easier and possable? Please somebody answer me this question. My friend did a b16 swap and he had the full engine, and ecu, had the crx Si harness sent to place racing and came back ready to plug into the b16 ecu and motor .....please somebody explain that it can be this easy and that i do not need to go and get stupid crx si intake manifolds and modify distributors.. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!! i can't follow all the deep confusing technical stuff you all told me last time.....i am so unexperienced with this stuff. and his b16 all worked as if it were stock. didn't need a vtec controller or anything for it to all work. thank you and please if you think you even have a clue or slight idea post. anything info is better than none!!!!!!!

Yes, you use everything from the D16Z6 motor. Intake, injectors, exaust manifold, distributor, ECU, etc etc etc. You will then need a conversion harness that will adapt your actual plug that plugs into your old ecu to be plugged into the P28 ecu. You will also need to have the engine wire harness converted. The old and new engine harness will be merged together to be plugged both on the engine and in your current plugs located at the shock towers.

Hope this helps

so basicly all he has to do is send off both his 88 crx wiring harenst and the Civic harenst to be rewired to work with the new ecu?

ok, that is more understandable than everything else i've heard. so i need the harness from this new engine as well as my dx correct? send them both off. and when they come back it should all work. now the plug that goes into the ecu, you just buy a conversion harness. is this something i can buy that plugs into the old dx plug and on the other side matches to fit the civic ecu? tell me yes and i totally understand this swap. and you say p28. i can't afford a stage 2 or better from hondata so would a stock 95 ex civic ecu work with a 5 speed tranny and d16z6 motor work from a junk yard or something? ( that is the car i am getting this engine from...thank you and please post soon!!!!!

alright, i am almost done with the questions, is there a difference with the auto engine wire harness from the d16z6 and the manual. like could i send off the auto civic harness and my manual dx harness, tell them what i am doing and that i am using a manual stock p28, would they get rid of the plugs on the auto that i don't need, or do i just go to a junk yard and buy a harness from a manual ex or si. also because mine is a dx, do i need to get an injector resistor block like the Si crx has? thank you for the help!

I think as long as you tell them exactly what you are doing, the auto wiring harness will work fine. good luck.

To answer your first question, YES!

The adaptor will receive the actual plug that plugs into your ecu and the other end of the adaptor will plug into the P28 ecu. The P28 ecu can be found on any 92-95 SI cars. Make sure it matches the tranny you use. Auto and manual all use the same wiring, as long as they are both ODB1 (98% sure on this).

The best way really it to bring your car to a shop and have it wired there. This way you'll be sure that it will be connected right. It costs only a bit more than the harnesses themselves and can be cheaper sometimes. (88-91 DX to ODB1 SI conversion harness, $503 US shipped from placeracing.com!!) That's actually what I'm doing. My car is being wired up as we speak right now!

Good luck

you say to make sure that the civic ecu (p28) matches the tranny...you mean auto and manual right? cuz i am using the 89 crx Si tranny. I am pretty sure that is what you meant, and yes i am, i have already been searching for them. and i am just going to send off the civic harness, and my dx harness to place racing and let them do any changes to it that need to be done. i am pretty sure i'll figure out how it goes back together some how. and where do i get the adapter plug for the ecu thing? from place racing as well? and was that kncluded in with the $500you gave me earlier? the only shop i have around here is twisted performance and they are expensive!! and plus if it goes there everybody will knwo what i have done, i want it to be a secret so when some punk wants to run his mouth....later....maybe the addition of a small turbo will help me on that part! thanks for all the help. it might be a short while before it goes in as money is a factor and i plan to rebuild the engine before installing it. luckly i have a mechanic that lives across the street with his own garage! wish me luck...later

Default just picked up my d16z6!!!!! help?

alright guys, i just got my 95 civic ex sohc vtec home. i got the wire harness from all the plugs and sensors on the engine to where they plug in at the strut towers. that is all the wires i needed from the civic right? i send that off with the same section of wires from the dx and they come back changed...the old civic wire harness will then plug into the dx plugs that go from the strut towers to the ecu plug correct? and i get the p28 ecu for a manual tranny...get a conversion plug to go from the plug for the dx ecu and on the otehr end plugs into the p28. please post and let me know if i have this all correct.. Also, this was an automatic, when i took the tranny off. there is a big thing where the flywheel is/ should be that looks like a brake hub or something. how the hell does this come off???? thats all for now. thanks alot guys. me and my buddy got it from where we could start it to loaded in the truck in about 4 hours... (took us awhile ot find hidden bolts on tranny, so we had to beat it up a lil.) not bad for the first time yankin one without breaking anything. Please post soon. thank you

So I have a 89 crx si d16z6 swap been don but the harness is missing a bunch of sensor plugs and is really shittly done. 500 fkn dollars for a couple adaptors and a vtec solenoid sound absloutly outrageous. Dose anyone have a 98% do it your self guide ? I'm mechanically inclined. I'm not trying to seen 500 dollars on a harness that I can do my self with the right information. Thank you for your assistance. Sincerely Donni Punani
