Well, to increase your times...I'd suggest eating a lot, and putting as many bricks as you can in your trunk (sandbags work too). Also, only shifting at 2-3k rpm would be a good idea.

Have you tried a new driver? I hear sometimes it helps.

You shouldn't have a problem with a ZX2 in the first place. If you can't beat him now, intake/header/exhaust isn't really gonna help you beat him. I'd suggest getting nitrous. $400 bucks and you're ready to go hunt WRX's.

well i dont know if i can or not he keeps telling me in school that hes getting some kind of chip that gives him 16hp and says "now it'll beat your lil civic" i want something that would shut him up. hes been beat by a neon sohc before. and his excuse "i got a bad start and the people in the car were talking to much so i couldnt hear. so an insight on something to get my 14 time in the low 16's maybe would be great. i heard the aem v2 works good.

okay since your a being serious. as for that so called chip sounds like bs to me. okay get the basic bolt ons and weight reduction. not overexagerrated like i did before. take out the back seats, a/c, powersteering etc take out as much as you can. thats the best thing i could tell you. power to weight helps alot

if you wana see it go to zxtuner.com im getting tired of him saying that so i want to get him to shut up. but do you think that intake and maybe headers or cat-back would get me a better time. does anyone know if there is a site where they list 1/4 times for cars?

intake headers and a catback isn't gonna free up all kinds of horsepower......it's more in the driver to get a good time......also, like others were saying, weight reduction and good driving is the cheapest way.....for cheap that's about all you got besides nitrous......if you REALLY wanna beat him..go turbo or motor swap...but that's a little more expensive than you're willing to spend i guess....good luck

all you have to do is launch his ***. he wont catch up. so go and practice. if you really wanna toast him the cheapest method would be to get a 50 shot of nos installed. the most power for the buck. 400 bucks and you good to go.

or. race the kid with the neon, if you could beat him then you could beat the zx2!!!.

finally

i say a guy with one of those p.o.s. and it said
"dual cam ztec" on the sticker, i wanted to own him, but there was too much traffic

Don't forget spare parts!

Seriously though, don't try and be a NOS pioneer, keep your shots to a reasonable level and you won't have to worry about aerating your pistons.

If you can't beat a ZX2 Escort with an EX Civic you suck at driving. Get some seat time with someone who knows how to drive and it shouldn't be much of a race at all. The winner of the launch will win the race.

16 second cars...oo rah!

i highly doubt that the race would come down to a few thousandths of a second so mods arent going to help you, boost, spray, or swap.

It's like racing only slower...

OP:
we are talking about a manual trans EX right?

take out everything that isn't bolted down and learn how to launch the car well.
if you have sub(s) pull them out for the race.
weight will kill you, but you shouldn't have a problem with him even with a semi-stock manual trans EX.
If you really want to dop in a few parts, pick up a cheap shorty intake and a decent air filter. Softer tires help a lot too.

eh, i dunno ive seen ex's not be able to break outta 17's haha.

unbolt your exhaust after your header. take off the bottome part of the intake. take your interior out.

sounds ghetto and cheap and cheesy, but if you really wanna win it will help
