Default I'm gonna have torque soon....

The B16 just isn't doing it for me anymore, so I picked up a GSR block. Here's the plan:

B16A2 head
B18C1 block
GSR or LS crank
P30 or PR3 pistons
2-layer headgasket
JDM ITR 4-1
Test pipe

I'm saving up for valvetrain/cams. And a Profab header, only because I like my A/C and P/S. I was going to do PCT's but the compression would be a little much for me. The block's coming bare, which is the reason for the LS crank. That and more torque. The rods should bolt up just fine. I'll be using new bearing, of course, as well as ARP hardware. My question is about the oil squirters. I know the have to be bent, but how much?

Unless I get a GSR crank :hint hint: Feel free to voice your opinions

while it doesnt actually make torque like an engine modification would, a 4.7, 4.9 or 5.0 final drive can help in a big way.

don't quote me on this, but i believe you will have to do some modification of the GSR block to get the LS crank to fit

i would use the GSR crank an rods before i would ever use the LS crank an LS rods.

ill trade revs for reliability any day. IE, stock GSR rods can see 9000, i wouldnt try it with LS rods.
The gain an hassle of using the LS crank just isnt worth it IMO

Oil squirter blockoff

Or you can bend the squirters and check clearance.

My ATS 4.9 FD has been my favorite mod.

Mike, you and I both know that LS rods can handle 9000 RPM.

Just get some ARP rod bolts and some ACL's, and you'd be good to go.

But anyway, good luck with the build. Smart man, by not choosing the PCT pistons.

Ya, CTR was my original choice. Then as I learned more, I found out I could make more power with less compression. This owing to the fact that I wouldn't have to pull timing all the way out to the distributor. Big cams were an option, and still are, but I'll still be way under the pinging threshold.

To this day, I still want an ATS 4.9. But B16 trany + 4.9FD = shitty gas mileage. LS 5th might work, though. Unfortunately, I'm in the military. Therefore, poor

Vtec kidd i have a question for you. Why do you think a ls crank and rods are not reliable. My 2 cents are the gsr oil squirters and block girdle are more reliable yes but what makes a GSR rods and crank more reliable?

Quit threadjacking, n00b. And to answer your question, for one a GSR crank is balanced to hold up to those revs from the factory. Is an LS? I think not

As far as I know. I really do want a 4.9FD, though

My ITR tranny + ATS 4.9 gets 30mpg with 226whp and 2.0L

Are you serious? Go away n00b.

w0rd.. but an LS bottom end CAN be balanced to withstand HIGH RPMs, safely anyway.

Intelligence &gt; You.

Secondly, I am minding my own business. It's my thread. Now GTFO. As a matter of fact get the expletive out of this forum, n00b. People like you are a walking arguement for birth control. As far as threatening me? You must not know what I do for a living.

Back on topic:<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by 92TypeR &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

My original plan after deployment was to get an ITR tranny, and hopefully be happy with that. But I got a good deal on a newer B16 tranny. I broke my first one, and it was readily available. Any more opinions on the upcoming build?
