Default 2001 gsr motor into 96 ex coupe.

Did a search with no luck.

2001 GSR motor going into a 1996 civic ex coupe.

Besides mount issues (99-00si rear mount) will I have any issues with wireing? Plan on using the 2001 GSR ecu with it. Would like to know more about the knock sensor and if it will give me any problems. Is this going to be simple? Thanks in advance and sorry about asking a question you guys probably hear 2-3 times a day.

Steve

Is that because im using the 96 ex wire harness? Cause with the 2001 gsr distributor and injectors and the 2001 gsr ecu, I shouldnt have any problems

So if I got the wire harness with 2001 gsr motor I wouldnt need to have anytype of jumper? Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Yes, you're OBD2A, the GSR motor you're wanting to use is OBD2B

Right but if use the engine harness, distributor and ecu from the 2001 gsr motor wich is OBD2b, then i dont need a jumper at all right?

You cant use the Integra harness in a 96-00 Civic.

Use your old EX harness. It will plug into the distributor, injectors, etc... You will prolly have to change plugs for the IACV and CFK sensor.

You need an OBD2A ecu too.

Correct if you dont want to spend the 65+ on the jumper harness then you need a obd2a ecu. the engine harness part has nothing to do with what we are saying. we are talking about the harness that plugs into your ecu, thats what is different..

So the 2001 GSR ecu does me no good. And the ecu that is in my car does me no good either. So no matter what, I need a obd2a ecu from a gsr. Can someone tell me when the obd2b starts? Like what year?

It is probably just easier to buy the jumper for 65 bucks then tracking down a obd2a gsr ecu.

Yeah I been looking at it. So far here is the information I have gatherd. I can use the 2001 gsr shift linkage. I will not be able to use the 2001 gsr ecu even with a jumper because it has a immobolizer in it.

I can find any obd2a gsr ecu and it will plu right up. I have to chnage some wires on the distributor though.

So it looks like the only think im in need of to make this swap easy is the si mounts and the obd2a gsr ecu. Did I miss anything? Swap comes with axels, linkage, tranny and ecu (which I cant use).

The swap is done. Just for searching records.

The civic throotle cable will not work on a GSR.

You need an extra ecu pin to wire up the butterfly.

The exhaust will not reach with a stock LS manifold going to a stock civic exhaust.

We also needed the ground some wire becuase it was throwing a Engine Crank shaft code of some sort. Not sure which one (im an idiot). Which is why I paid a friends to do it for me.
