My cousin got a 00' SI witha JDM b18C (type r) and he has a HKS HiPower exhaust system with a type r header and stock JDM intake. His car is quiet at idle but when he dogs it, its freakin loud, especially when the VTEC kicks in. I was wondering if ther is a louder exhaust system. I want to be loud but retain my cat.

What are the laws in your state? Because if you have a loud exhaust in my state you still get "fucked by the cops"

Well im border lined with illinois. chicago cops fucked with my cousin one day but he has a cat so they just busted his ***** for about an hour. I had a jetta running open header and they never told me n e thing.

 

Of course dude your in cali cops are dicks out there. i used to live in san bernardino and my uncle got his hachi towed in front of my house just because his **** looked "altered for offroad purposes" i have a copy of his ticket.

To answer your question, let me point this out :

Loud does not = fast

But the loudest exhaust I have ever heard in my life was an Aero Turbine

they gave me one of there mufflers to put on my car and holy expletive did it sound like *** it was so fukn loud i had a cat and a resonator on there i took it right off.If your looking for a loud exhaust then i would go with the AREO TURDBIN

 

man i ran open headers (LOUD) for 3 months and it sucked so when i picked an exhaust i got the quietest i could, s2000 with 2.5 from the cat

Think about it for the long run. The louder it is the more annoying it will be. You will not want to spend a long time in a car that sounds like ***.
ANY exhaust is subject to decibal level tests.
My buddy has a 50state legal catback and still got a ticket for excessive noise - yes, he fought it, yes he lost.

V2 intake/no cat/2.5 Aluminum piping/skunk2 muffler

 

Indiana = no smog test what so ever

 

Michigan has no smog testing either
that doesnt mean they cant ticket you for excessive noise
