Knock sensor trouble. *searched*
Hi, it seems like something such as this would have been covered, but..

Anyway, I have code 23 which is the knock sensor. My Cel comes on at the exact instant my cars temperature bar is half way full, not one moment before. It's starting to bother me. I know knock sensors detect engine knock long before you can hear it, and then retard the spark timing to prevent further knocking. How do I know for sure if my sensor is broke or if it is finding a knock and is trying to alert me of it by throwing the Cel? I am noticing a slight drop of low-end power and overall power since this has happend, and I read somewhere that the knock sensor can cause this. Is there anyway to tell other then the obvious "if you hear a knock"? Doesn't the sensor, when it notices a knock, roll the timing back until it stops? .. as if it's supposed to fix itself. If that were true, a Cel wouldn't pop right, cause it fixes itself. I'm so confused on what I can do. If you have any info on what I can do, please.. I'm all ears. Thanks so much if you can help. Btw, it's a 95 si. Thanks again.

The knock sensor is right above the oil filter and under the intake manifold....get under there and check it out.
