Default ZC compatability

This kid I work with recently bought a 91 crx si for $1500. The ad in the paper said DOHC Vtec. Needless to say, when he brought it to work and popped the hood, I noticed right away it wasn't the B16 that was supposed to be in it. It was a ZC. Well after driving it for a week and never having a vehicle with a standard trans before, he threw a rod through both sides of the block. My Question is what kind of compatability he could go with for a new block. I have the original Dpfi motor from my car and was wondering if he could use the ZC head on a D15 block?

yeah it only lasted a week. We work at a lube center and the only time he had driven a standard trans before that was pulling cars in and out of the bays. I think he went from 2nd to 1st instead of 3rd. Its a horrible sight to see, holes about 4" long and 2" wide on each side of the 1st cylinder.

a zc head can be mated to a SOHC block, but some of the oil passages don't line up properly & it may not last long. Someone here on HT did this a year or two ago. I can't recall what the thread was called & I can't find his sn in the memberlist, so he has changed names or his account was deleted. The best bet is get another ZC block, or get a different motor.

Brand new ZC motor goes for 500 + shipping at hmotors. Then you'll have a spare head.
