Default Tanabe exhaust owners read...

Does anyone have a picture of the inside of their catback system's resonator?? Someone told me to replace the resonator because they are the lovured or fish gill type and a maganflow one would flow better. Is there any truth to this and if the "gills" are pointing towards the back of the car they wouldn't catch any of the exhaust gases and therefore would affect the flow much, right?

if you're that concerned about flow then get rid of the resonator. it will sound good ...

Back on topic...

It is 100% true that the resonator is louvered and does in fact face in such a way that the louvers do "catch" the exhaust and hinder performance. I would just get it swapped out for a perforated core resonator. it may be alittle louder (we are talkin like 2-4 decibels at most), but it will pay big dividends in performance depending on how heavily you are modified

EDIT: I'll try to find the pic for you, I've seen one on here before...

Yes the resonator is lovured. It is how they can get their cat-backs to stay under 95db. I believe that is the db limit in order to be 50 state legal.
