As far as I know, from the little research that I've actually done on this, there were no passenger's airbags at all on 96 specs. Also, the faux carbon trim on the climate control and door switches, were a slightly different shade. Of course, no badge for 96 specs on the e-brake cover. Those are the only visible differences that come to mind. The gaugel clusters are mechanically different, due to the different final drive ratios. The gauge faces were no different, though.
Hes right. The only visual difference is the airbags/steering wheel and the plaque.
I always thought the JDM 98spec had drivers side airbag as default, but one poped up for sale here the other day with no airbags either side.

yes, 96-00 all interiors were the same, cept for the change in airbags and plaque. 96-97 spec did not come with trunk carpet standard, it was an option. 98+ spec had it standard. Airbags were not standard until 1999. the plaque started in 98. red or black recaros were offered all years, and yellow was added for the PY cars in 1999-2000. other than that, there are no differences.

I believe the 98-00 carbon pieces where different, had a blue tint or something added.

Sound idea, but not true. I inspected a 96 spec and a 98 spec cluster as well as tested them in my car...there were no differences other then the Temp gauge and gas gauge wiring on the cluster case.

Yellow was only available for the 3000 special edition 98 spec ITRs produced.

Then why would aftermarket companies offer an option on clusters for 96/98 models???? Spoon for example offered their clusters for both years. You had to specify which model year you had. That's what I've been told.

i think the 96-97 c/f climate control buttom are black while the 98+ are metallic gray
ALSO, 96-97 Defrost buttom you push to activate, 98+ mine used to click inwards like the hazards,

The only difference w/ the clusters is wiring...this is why you have to swap the green film when installing a 96 spec cluster into a 98+ integra and vice versa...other then that, there are no mechanical differences.
