I screwed up my paint pretty bad, any tips?
I did the new roller paint technique that's getting popular, unfortionately, i mixed it with Acetone like the can said insted of Mineral Spirits like the online How-To said because the can said "Do not use Mineral Spirits". Okay, mix it, put it on, looks great, come back 30 hours later, paint feels like rubber, i found out that's how it's supposed to dry, Mineral Spirits make it harden.
I need tips how to get this off, i put on aircraft remover and yeah, it removed it, but it made the paint terrible underneith, some places ate through the clear, others didn't even eat through the new paint i put on. It's rutted bad and going to be nearly impossible to get straight again, i spent about an hour on a 2"x12" area to get it looking okay again.

ever heard of trial and error? apparently this has happened before, hence the reason the how-to's say dont use acetone

What how-to did you see? Assuming you did and it said not to...</TD></TR></TABLE>
ive seen a couple that advise using mineral spirits and NOT acetone.

That's crazy. Just do it right next time. Forget all that low budget $50 paint job crap. Its going to cost you more than what you bargain for. Just use paint remover. Your paint is done with.

Oh, i know it's ruined, i just want some tips for making my body straight again, air craft remover removes it retarded unevenly and it's going to take literally a week to get my body straight again scraping the paint off and sanding it.
i've been working my body... of my del sol for about a month now.
I would suggest taking a really abbrassive pad and an electric RO 5'' sander and take all the paint off until u hit metal. That is the best way to prep for paint.
Acetone... i used that to remove oil and grease from my engine tranny and valve cover b4 cleaning... acetone will not speed up the process ofpaint removal ne more than a good electric or AP sander with dust collection.
Remeber to use a self etching primer b4 paint and dont forget to wetsand the clearcoat
The curing of the paint and the prep work will make or break your job!!

A month, forget that, i just want it to look decent, not good.
I asked someone after posting this, he suggested soaking a rag in the Acetone and laying it on it. If all else fails, bare metal like you suggested, i just don't want rust problems.

sorry
sorry
use fast thinner or lacquer thinner. it won't hurt your clear coat as long as you don't leave it on too long. like kidkombo said soak a rag and wipe. aircraft paint stripper is used to go to bare metal.
invest in some PPG paint with acrlyic hardener and use plenty of clear cote
paint and extras cost you about 400$ no more no less

I think i've taken care of it, i didn't even need to strip it, it's just that the paint needed a week to dry and reacts with spray paint.
