Default check engine light on, repair question . . .

ok. i really don't want to get into the story, so long story short, dealer has had my '00 s2000 twice already to fix the check engine light and it still keeps coming on. the code is P0411, which is secondary air injection system incorrect flow or whatever it's stated as. just perchased vehicle a couple weeks ago, and it had an aem intake on it. the dealer has removed the intake and put the oem setup back on it. that did not clear it. the second time they took it (took them 6 days for this one) they replaced the cat and the o2 sensor (it broke in the cat when they tried to take it out). that was supposedly the problem. they said they drove it for a little bit and the light stayed off. i picked up the car and the light came on as soon as i started the car. i have the code scanner, so i pulled the code, same code. i cleared the code. i drove home from work, light stayed off. next day, light back on. i pulled the code again, same code. this code does not seem to go away. soooo, it's not the intake, it's not the cat, not the o2 sensor. i am getting really fed up with this dealership and want to know if anyone else has had this code and what you had to replace to remove it. i want to be able to tell the dealer what to change so this dicking around stops. i have a feeling they need to change the mass air flow sensor or the air injection unit, or smog pump (whichever you want to call it). any help would be appreciated.

thanks in advance!

something in your throttle body? a messed up sensor?

i'd go to another dealer, second opinions never hurt.

Wow, the dealer replaced a lot of stuff. Are the vacuum lines installed correctly? It sounds like crossed vacuum lines in the secondary air injection system or a failed sensor in the secondary air injection system.

Is the car driving ok? If it is, take a deep breath and don't get so frustrated.

i wouldn't be getting as frustrated if the car was actually inspected. all of this is to get the car inspected. and every time i bring the car there to have them look at it, they keep it a whole day without looking at it, then overnight some parts, then put them in, then i pick it up. it is a three day minimum before i get my car back. so far i have had this car about 3 weeks and have only driven it for maybe half that time. and the service they are giving me is poor too. i'm not impressed at all with this place. that is why i posted here to see if anyone has had a problem with this code so i can get this thing fixed and inspected so i never have to go to this place again.

is there a place where i can download and print a picture of the vacuum lines for the intake system so i can check those myself? i know how to do the work, just don't know where everything is suppose to go. never worked on an s2000 before, just civics and preludes.

thanks, again.

under the new 06 lemon law, if you have same problem twice within 18 months from the purchase. you may be eligible for full refund or identical vehicle.

Best thing to do is to visit another dealer. Call several dealers in your area, ask specifically if they have experience with s2000's. State your problem and what your current dealer isn't doing right (turn around time, etc). I've removed those vacuumn lines otherwise I'd send you a few pictures showing where they're supposed to go. It's very simple if that's the problem. Other causes could be a failed secondary air injection pump or a failed solenoid (there are several in the system).
