Default Bang for the Buck?

Sorry if this has been asked a million times, but here i go anyways.

I was wondering what is the cheapest way to make the 4th Civic HBs and CRXs fast. I mean atleast a 14 second car if thats any help. From what i have heard it takes quite a bit of cash to get much out of these cars and im not willing to do that really.

OK, thanks for the help in advance, Kevin

Yep engine swap is probably the best and easiest way to get in the 14's.

Turbo setup is cheap if you are mechanically sound. Otherwise a engine swap. A turbo is done for 500 US if you do it smartly. dont go over 7 psi without any engine managment. Or if you are electrically good(like me) then make this engine managment system for 30 US and it has software etc. 100% programmable and you can plug into your comp and tune.

Il psot site l8ters

Hmmm buya mustang and put the Civic on a trailer J/P!!!

NOS or Turbo if you're mechanically enclined.

Other wise, pay a shop to put a b16a or GSR motor in your car...

Hmmm... its just everything sounds so expensive. I dont want Nitrous just because of the extreme amounts of care you have to take with it, and i dont know jack about it. My thinking is ill try to sell my car and buy something were I/E and a boost controller will get me into the mid 14s and high 13s if im lucky. It just sounds so much more cost efficient for a poor bum like me. By the way i wouldnt be able to do any of the work myself unless its exhaust or intake because im not very mechanically inclined.

Thanks for the suggestions, Kevin

Or instead of NOS, try some Nitrous Oxide (I don't know why people get that damn company name in mind when thinking of the actual chemical name...oh wait, yeah I do). Nitrous Oxide will easily put you in the 14 second range.

"Is it safe?" Only if you make it safe, and use it properly.

"I won't blow up my motor will I?" Actually if you're a dumbass and don't do your research, then yeah you will.

If you can't tell somebody exactly HOW nitrous oxide makes power, you really shouldn't be spraying. N2O is fun for a little while, but if this is your daily driver, I would NOT suggest it for a long period of time. It is, in all honnesty NOT RELIABLE. A lot of mainteance is REQUIRED, or else you will have problems. Do your research and you'll be spraying for a while.

I hate to say it but cheapest fastest way is Nitrous. Heres a rundow of prices, these are if your resourceful, i know you can do lots to bring these prices way up or way down especially for a swap, look at the thread with the title "where to get complete b16a swap" for more info on swaps and how much youll really spend.

Nitrous: 300-600 bucks for a kit
B series swap: 1000 bucks plus miscelaneous which could pull this waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay up
Turbo kit: 1500 greddy kit,(cheapest kit av.)

NO man, nitrous isn't hard to take care of at all. Run a 50 shot, retard yor timing slightly, screw in some new plugs and your set. (Oh ya, fill the tank...)

what if i have a 90crx si with 150,000 miles, (but runs great)..........would you not recommend (NOS) on something like that????.......cause it seems that it would just be kind of hard on the engine, would it???? or is it still reliable????

Not too good of an idea to put it on a motor with 150,000 miles.
