Default are tokico hp's really THAT bad????

let's be serious people, are tokico hp's really that bad? i know ive been talkin bout koni yellows all day but even at the cheapest prices, it'll cost me roughly $700 for eibach pro-kit + koni yellows (not thinking bout illuminas nemore).

ive already heard some people on this forum say they like their pro-kit + tokico blue setup and have had em for years but others have said the blue's are pretty much like stock and can't handle springs rates that are too high.

i need people to get technical and give some hardcore facts on this set up.

I have a set of progressive rate Sprint springs which drop my Accord 2.25 inches and Tokico HP shocks, thing rides like it's stock and handles like a Subaru. They've been on for about five years and still work great.

i've driven my friends hatchback (92-95) a couple times, has them with a set of eibachs. it rides alright, then again it's no drop compared to mine. i'm about 2.3 in the front and 2.0 in the back.

and now that i got the illuminas it rides a hell of a lot better.

dude if your stressing about your suspension so much, cause i can tell with all your posts, i can see your worried about how it's gonna ride.

if thats the case you better not settle for something like some hps or gr2s.

Koni and illumina are the ones to go with. I also read that your OCCASIONALLY gonna take some curvy roads. If thats the case there really isn't much sense into spending a lot of money. Especially since konis don't come cheap and a lot of the guys on here that use them are big suspension gurus and auto x.

SF_EF8 - not really understand where you're going with that lol. so ud recommend tokico hp's since i wouldn't be a big auto x and crazy driver? or would u recommend koni yellows/tokico illuminas?

id figure koni yellows would be kind of a waste of money since i dont drive crazy and dont have the motor to back up spirited/crazy drives. i just like to take corners fast/hard. thats all. so i guess tokico hp's could suit my desires?

lol yeah i went kinda fast there huh.....

honestly what your gonna be using the car for, i'd get the agx's adjustable as well. had them on my integra and there were pretty bad ***.

hp is like an oem replacement, i'd say the agx's are right smack in the middle. i know there are less than the illuminas and i never had a problem with the ones on my teggy.

yeah koni's would be nice but over kill in your situation.

i just did a quick search on tokico hp's and kept reading the argument b/t the tokico hp being oem replacements or not and they are not.

so they aren't oem replacements, but they aren't high performing shocks (ie - illuminas, koni yellows, etc). so i figured i could stick em em. but would they really not be so good with eibach pro-kits and my desires? what would happen anyways? could i blow em or something? or would the ride just be uncomfortable? would cornering not improve a big amount?

it'll improve of course.

eibachs are a really good spring. the drop isn't much but it will give you little sportier ride than what you have now.

you'll like them, like i said a buddy of mine has them and he hasn't had any problems. they won't blow or anything. usually happens with excessive lowering.

i'm just a big fan of more of a drop.
but don't get me wrong hps are good shocks, i'm sure it'll be a really good ride. just that adjustablity is a good thing to have.

well the thing is, im not looking for much tuning. its a 165k d16y8 and im never gonna f/i it or put a new engine it for maybe a good 4 years. the suspension is already ****. it knocks and creeks and squeekes so i figured id give it a mild upgrade.

im just hoping the setup i want wont be too hard where i feel every bump in the road.

If you're just going to be running a Pro-Kit, the HPs should be fine. The Pro-Kit springs are rather mild.

Well i dont have a pro kit but i have neuspeed sports. I have had the tokico hp with sports combo in for 20k miles havent had one problem with it and the ride is awesome...Just ordered a set of k soprts tho so ill be changing it up. I feel it is a very soft comfortable ride so you dont need to worry about bumps...I know the K sports are going to be stiffer but thats what im looking for.

I think they would handle the pro kit fine. I have them with some 450lb coilovers in the front and they blew out but still don't bounce even after a year.
