What are the signs of a blown head gasket?
Mine blew on my 99 Integra LS ( Bubbling in the reserve tank), over heating, coolant loss. I had a slight misfire also which threw CEL. Sweet smelling WHITE exhaust...
Have a cumbustion test done. It the liquid turns yellow, it's either the head or headgasket (or both :S )
It doesnt have to blow white smoke or have a power loss. My GSR screams and it has a blown headgasket, though its slight.
A quick fix if you don't have the cash to down your car is to take the thermostat out. Your car wont' get as hott and wont build up pressure and blow the water out the resivour. It's what I've got done to mine and its gettin me by.

I was looking at a head the other day where someone chose to wait to replace the head gasket. The hot combustion gases wore a huge groove in the head surface basically trashing the head. I'm not sure I'd drive with a blown HG.

I think my head gasket is leaking around the edges where it is bolted to the block. It always looks moist but doesn't leak terribly.
Do you think it needs to be replaced anytime soon? I was planning on having it fixed when I get the timing belt replaced in about 10k miles. What do you guys think? My car is a 94 LS with 74k miles.

Blown head gasket the engine will run like crap, you'll be blowing white smoke due to the coolant in the combustion chamber, and you'll have some nasty lookin oil, as stated milkshake.

To check crack your oil pan bolt and if water comes out your screwed... you'll be able to see how bad it is by how long it takes till you see oil.

Take your dipstick out with your motor on....splash some of the oil onto the header. Sounds like a cold steak hitting the grill? *tssssssssss* that's coolant sizzling which equals uh oh. If it just smokes, than you might be alright since it's just oil being burned. Brownish...yeah milkshake coolant color since that's oil and coolant mixed.
