Default Acura Extended Warranty's

They are charging $1700 for 3 years extra. I am under 50k and they said if it's over 50k, I cannot get the extended. and No, you cannot get an extended again when it's at 100k

Shall I get it before I reach 50k? they will fix my rattling hatch soon and also fixed the rear solenoid to unlock the hatch.

Extended Warranties will not cover interior or rattles after the original 50k

$1700 can be done in payments of course.

I plan on continuing to tune/mod the car though... I figure it will be worth it if something happens. Can't I just unbolt my mods and go into the dealer and say "oh oh... it broke"

If you feel that you want to keep the car another three years or longer and it's in your budget I would get it!

If you don't ever plan on modding your car at all, get it. Else, tell them to shove it up their asses

Major rip off. Cost should be ~$900. Go to http://www.4acura.com for a better quote.

Ask you dealer why he wants to charge you $1700 for something that costs him $800 (perhaps less).

Oops - you are in JDM land? No idea if $1700 is reasonable there or not.

Covers everything but rattles and anything internal of the car "interior" I mean.

not for $1700, but if they will come down on the price it would be worth it...but like any insurance, you might never use it. But if you ever have a 02 sensor go out or a fast idle valve, or master cylinder, or say a ABS modualtor...your extended warranty will be your best friend!

Ask around a bit more, that was the story they fed me except they only charged $900 for that warranty.
I had a leak in my headlamp with water getting in they said it wasnt covered, along with my worn out seats. I wont even list all the other stuff.

FYI: My clutch failure at 23k was covered under warranty, but I was told if I had the extended warranty (which I don't), my very similar clutch failure at 73k would not have been covered. It costs about $1k for the OE parts installed.

No kidding, a extended warranty for a Type R is in the order of the $1,400 or more.
7 year or 100k miles, whichever comes first.

Those FOCKERS are ripping you off. I don't think you need it. I purchased the extended warranty when I bought My 2000 Si brand new. 7 year, 100,000 mile warranty for $700 and change. Looking back, I don't think I need it. If you plan on modding your car (I do) don't waste your money. You know they're gonna break your BALLZ..

call around for a better price. I got mine for much less than that - around $1000.

I got me R during a factory run out, so as a promotion to sell the rest of the R's Honda Australia offered free extended warranty to every ITR sold then.

It's the only reason why my car is still stock atm, to keep the warranty valid.. i don't think they even let me change the air filter

I thought the extended warranty is the extension (hence the word extended) of the factory warranty? Which means whatever the factory warranty covers, the extended warranty should do the same.. Then why won't Acura over a leak headlamp, squeaky interior or even a bad tranny under the extended warranty?? The factory warranty covers bumper to bumper except for battery, tires, headlight bulbs and some other wear and tear items..

BTW AoiGSR, you should not pay more than $1100 for your 7yrs/100k extended warranty. Unless all dealers raised their prices from 2 years ago becuase that's what the dealer offered me ($1050) back them. Then again, I went to a Toyota dealer with a freind just 1 month ago and the 7/100k warranty is around $1600.

I asked my dealer about it and they sell a 3rd party warranty from Extended Auto Life. They have three levels of coverage: Power Train, Performance, and Hi-Tech. A 48 month/48K mi breaks down to $1073, $1110, or $1193. I'm not going to do it.

I talked to South Bay Acura and they were offering $1700. The guys said it went up from before. I dun know when he checked last but he quoted $1500 when I went in for warranty work. And, does it matter where I get the warranty? because I should be able to get to goto ANY acura dealer I am assuming....

I emailed Acura of Mission Viejo so hopefully I will get another quote there.

However, I plan to SC the GSR. just Fyi... maybe that will completely void it?

-Aoib0t, who proly won't get the warranty

106K miles, running a mugen computer for at least the last 20K, ... still no probs.
Might have a fR bearing finally going, though!

Not worth it for what they do cover, but it would be nice if you gould get a warranty things like clutches trannies and motors !

Don't get a third party warranty. They are far less useful than the Acura one and usually have a whole host of exclusions (and often a deductible).

I got a quote of $900 for a 7 year/75k Acura warranty for my Type-R from http://www.4acura.com. It does not matter where you buy the warranty - the dealer is just a reseller of these (usually at huge markups).
