radiator fan prob
ok my buddy has a 1998 integra gs automatic and his fans wont kick on im guessin its his fan switch because i tested all his relays and they have power to them i turned the ac on while it was at idle and the fans didnt kick on like they shud but he also has a leak in his radiotor so his radiator doent hold pressure within the whole cooling system also..but i was wondering if this has anything to do with the fan not kicking on..also wondering if the thermostat has nethin to do with this and is there other things or other ways i cud test things to see if its the fan switch? i would greatly appreciate some advice
thanks
thanks
hmmm, I think the thermostats in cars work just like they do in houses, maybe I am wrong. I think the thermostat is attached to a line that coolant runs through, and as the temperature of the coolant increases, it kicks the thermostat on. If the radiator was leaking, the excess heat would cause the coolant to expand and not build pressure, so it wouldn't heat as well, and not kick in the thermostat.
