Default viper 791x remote and trunk release

ok a few more questions came about. i currently have the 791x alarm system that has this remote

reading DEI site they said the alternative remote is

reading around i read that someone was able to use the 571xv remote

so the question is: am i able to use another remote like the 571xv? the 2 way is nice, but not to afraid of watching the lcd all the time and i hate the alternative remote

2. im going to get the dei trunk release and install it on my 99 si. would any additional parts be needed that i need to order, or would i be able to go to radio shack and get them? or would i need any additional parts at all?

you also have to change the antenna if your going to use the led remote. whatever dealer you get the remote from can get you the antenna also. they are in the dei catalog, one for lcd and one for led. anyway as far as the trunk goes I used a dei door lock actuater on my 94 hatch, my wifes 95 coupe, and a customers del sol at work. but even if you use the soleniod you should be ok, but you will need a relay.

You can check DEIs remote cross reference guide at... http://www.dei.com/
And unless you have power trunk release now, [don't think so] you will need the solenoid and a relay. 94

its the same antenna, they just look different. the lcd and led are they same thing, just different displays. i've already programmed a responder alarm with led remotes. worked fine.

and its http://www.directed.com

and you'll just need the solonoid and a relay. thats it.

they are different antennas, but they ride the same freqs. the vx uses the wire lead antenna to get a big more distance. the leds use a compact antenna unit. the vx should be able to use the led remotes, but the led systems didnt match up with the lcd remotes.

That's overkill. It's bulky and hard to hide. Just get a door lock actuator and a relay like everyone said.

Trunk release is not what a door lock actuator is for, a door lock actuator does not have as much power as a solenoid, a door lock actuator needs polarity reversing to work properly, it is not the right piece to use for trunk release.
It's a whole diff. story if it's trunk lock/unlock, [on cars that have it] you want. 94

$60???

If your car has a locking trunk with handle, [like a car door] you can use a door lock actuator, [wired to the alarms door lock outputs] and a basic one should not cost more then $10 US... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWD1V 94

ive got a door lock actuator in my 95 ex on the rod that comes from the trunk key cylinder. it is setup to either push or pull(i cant remember) when 12 volts is applied to the correct wire. the other wire gets grounded.

i used that solenoid.. it's bulky but i managed to make it look clean in my ek. only thing is i had to drill two holes to put the plate on and after a while it started getting loose and would work intermittenly. so i'm gonna get the plate welded on there in a few days for added stability.

*cough

Exactly. Just get a door lock solenoid. I'm glad you agree with us.
