Default Scary Noise....Tranmission?

I was out cruisin around the other night and i was taking first gear out to about 8,000 rpms, and just about when got it into second gear my car made a suprisingly loud knocking sound...it sounded like some if someone were to hit a piece of wood with hammer real hard...does anybody have a clue as to what this may be? Has anyone else experienced this in an 05 type s?

It happens sometimes at high rpm's. Don't worry about it its a common problem. I know there was a thread earlier with a guy talking about this.

Yeah, that's not good. My car has NEVER made that noise. In fact, any car I've owned has never made THAT kind of noise.

But my friend's did. Turns out he broke a motor mount. Maybe that'll start you in the right direction.

And also...sometimes the K-series engines make a loud pop out of the intake side when shifting in lower gears. No one has ever been able to figure it out but it's pretty loud with an aftermarket intake installed. It probably has something to do with the VTC. Mine does it every once in a while shifting to second from a high RPM first gear. It happens right when I push in the clutch and let off the gas.
