LOL i know!
The day after I got it a semi blew a tire on the highway and a rubber scrap went under my car and popped a panel on the splash guard. I couldnt fasten it back in, it needs adhesive or something. Time to go to the dealer. I have to go back anyways to get the silver metallic steering wheel installed.

It took a lot of searching, calling, and BS to finally get the car!
Took a month in all to locate and buy it after all of the dealer shopping in different states. Finally found the car randomly at my local dealer while taking the R for an oil change! They did not even know they were going to get the car in their allotment according to what they told me a few weeks earlier, either they did not want to sell me a car or the salesman was a moron!

I will clean it up and post pics this week. I need to get the R emissions inspected , its 4 months overdue, I am afraid to fail with the i/h/e/cat combo.

Did you have any mods on the MSP when you got rid of it. Just curious, cuz I owned one for a year and loved it. (had catless d/p, k&n drop-in, and, flash)
How would you compare the TSX's handling with the MSP's. I know MSP's are almost like ITR's.

I kept the MSP stock. I LOVED the car when ever I thought about the value, originality and fun factor associated with it. But with my new consulting job it was not getting the job done on the highway lol. No cruise control, not very quiet and stiff legged.
In terms of performance driving, the MSP definitely felt a bit faster than the TSX but I am still breaking in the TSX so I might change my mind once I play with VTEC in 600 miles.
The MSP's engine felt like crap compared to the TSX though. The delivery in the MSP was very choppy and non-linear. I always felt there were dips and rises in the power curve. In addition to that, the MSP's performance was inconsistent in different weather. Thank the diminutive intercooler.
Handling goes hands down to the MSP in stock form. I think the TSX would be VERY close if it was given stiffer springs and summer tires. With an LSD I think it would surpass the MSP. The TSX does not have that nasty torque steer either. The one benefit of low torque motors. I must say though, no car I have ever driven steers as quickly and sharply as the Mazda did. The TSX does come close and offers that quick steering and fast turn in response that the Mazda had, just not as dramatic.

Yeah, the MSP suffered from glitchy engine management, but was is otherwise a stellar little car. The TSB flash definitely made a difference in smoother power delivery and even gas mileage. Too bad you didn't get flashed while you owned it, since it was a dealer TSB and free to you.
The combination of the flash, K&N drop-in, cat-less downpipe, and, Racing Beat 2.5 inch cat-back upgrade (which I got free from Mazda under warranty) gave me 173.6 whp on a dynojet, up from 155.3 bone stock. All on the stock boost setting of 6.5-7psi. I was impressed by the gains, and the car definitely became a more aggressive presence on the street.
I stayed away from a MBC because I heard too many horror stories on the speed boards about MSP's @ 10psi pulling 200whp on a dyno and then blowing a hole in the block shortly thereafter. Engine reliability was the ONLY reason I replaced my Mazdaspeed with a proven, and, bulletproof 1.8T VW at the time.
I still think that the MSP was an underdog that never got it's rightful recognition from real enthusiasts and went basically unoticed during it's 18 short months on the market. My biggest gripe was that Mazda didn't equip the car with a FMIC from the factory.
Anyway, it's always nice to share with a fellow ex-MSP owner. Best of luck with the TSX!

Oh I definitely had the flash done, it was done before I took delivery of the car. I even verified it was done with the dealer. It still was not nearly as smooth as the R motor or the TSX. It was lumpy almost.

How did you get the exhaust under warranty? I'm curious because my gf has a MSP.

I had an '03.5 with the oval 2.5 inch tailpipe and 2.25 exhaust piping, and it cracked all around the tip. So when I went to get my muffler replaced, they couldn't get it because it was on backorder (common problem) so they asked me if I would "mind" if they installed the 2.5 inch Racing Beat cat-back with 3 inch round tip on my car instead, which retailed at their parts counter for $689.
I said "sure, go ahead. I dont mind". It gave the car a more aggressive growl, and combined with a few other parts helped make almost 20whp.
