yes! ur syncro is going bad...replace ur tranny fluid w/ GM syncro mesh and double clutch 3rd gear for a couple of days! it goes back to normal for every day driving but that one time you agressively slam 3rd in a again...you get the slight grind again and have to double clutch again for a while!..........sure beats replacing syncros! be kind to the S1 dos pennys

You cannot fix it. I'm sorry, but the old transmission's synchros arent the best ones. They start to worn out, and start the grinding. Dont worry, you can still drive it. Change your gearbox oil to prevent other gear grindings. Its not bad if it grinds only in one gear, but its bad when it does on every gear. Up and down.

When it goes really bad in future. Change your tranny to hydro- clutch type, they have little better synchros.

Mine does this too on my Y1 tranny. Just be careful shifting into 3rd. Double clutch in that gear and take at easy with it

Yeah, i think you are fine very long. If you dont push it too much. My 1st -> 2nd has grinded for two years now. And i push it hard atleast once a week. So if it doesent grind on normal driving, you should be alright for few years atleast. Even more. Just change the tranny fluid to avoid other synchros go bad.

autozone carries gm syncromesh, had the same problem as you, put it in a year ago and the grind went away after about 500miles (knock on wood)
