I can only buy the following, because I am getting an 100$ giftcard from my credit card company and can only buy from BestBuy, Circuit city, CompUSA and J&R.

Use the gift card at Best Buy and pony up the rest to get the only detector there worth buying... The Escort Passport 8500x50. I own one and without it, I would probably be in jail by now...

Valentine ones are outdated.
as stated before dont bother buying a cheap (under $250) radar detector.
There are only a few radar detectors worth actually buying, if you buy cheap ones you might as well flush that money down the toilet.
As far as I have seen cobra and whistler dont make a good radar detector.

The only 5 radar detectors I would personally purchase (in no particluar order) are:
1. Escort 8500
2. Escort solo 2
3. Valentine V1 (but it would be my last choice)
4. BEL STi driver
5. K40 rd850

BTW the hottest radar piece out there right now would have to be the K-40 calibre.
It uses bluetooth, it is a installed piece though, not a dash mount. speaks to you and uses a wireless remote.
On average it runs approx $1900 installed though, but its worth every penny.

There is no question in my mind... It is worth the extra time that you spend to save up for a valentine. Even if you get a speeding ticket waiting to buy one, it will pay for itself.
