Default Shifter problem, 1st ringing, loose, then rattling.

Recently i had a ringing shifter on high certain rpms. Im assuming it was the vibration that did this. I thought it was nothing. As time progress, my shifter started to have play in all gears including neutral. I was concerned about this. afterwards, i started to hear a light rattle inside the center dashboard. i figured my clutch or bearings could be loose.

i just had my clutch changed a couple months ago. The rattling sounds simlar to a can with one or two marbles. So i decided to take my shifter apart. i had my electronic helms, and removed the 3 necessary bolts.

I found that the bowl like bearing at the bottom of my shifter had a broken piece.

close up. notice a chunk is missing.

The rattling must of came from this piece.

I found the smaller piece laying around the rod like shift linkage shown here.

This is probably why my shift is loose in certain areas. The half bowl like shape did not have a full half circular shape and this is probably why it was loose in certain areas. Now my question is can i buy this piece alone by it self? The parts department is closed till monday.

I did remove the smaller piece and installed everything back. The rattling sound is still within the dash. anyone have any clue what this is? last week i bleed my clutch and changed my tranny fluid. The rattling can with one or two marble sound is still there.

Also, what type of grease do i use?

can anyone help? thanks

Jeff! Welcome to the club!

The piece is like $2 but there's no universal piece. Also, none of the dealers I know stocks them, they say it's a "special" part.

"makes noise" is too broad a statement. You know better than that.
