Default Raced the swap h22 today

Well was at the track today, the first time out since I swapped an h22a into my 3050lbs 92 Accord. First run 15.7, second and third time I miss shifted really badly and went from second gear back to first gear. The smell of the clutch was pretty bad and it was smoking from the tranny. I installed a stage2 exeddy last September and haven't run my car hard since the swap. Anyway I was thinking my clutch was done and I was a little pissed, but my friend who is a mechanic took it out for a spin around the track to see if the clutch was finished, and to my surprise he didn't comeback to where we were all hanging out, instead he went in line to race. I asked him how the clutch was and he said "I'll find out in 15 seconds". He pullled off a 15.1 @ 96mph. I guess the clutch was o.k and I need to learn how to drive . So I took it out a few more times and pulled off a few more mid 15 runs. All in all it was a good day, except for the clutch. I'm wondering though, should I get the clutch checked? It's not slipping and it's basically brand new, but I know I did a little bit of damage.

wow.....that seems kinda...slow for a first run...LEARN TO DRIVE FOO

i wouldn't think the clutch would have been damaged just from two mis shifts....those usually lead to synchro damage if anything...if it feels fine, theres no reason to think anything is wrong

^^^that. Plus you could have bent some valves, depending on how bad you miss-shifted. Now, is the engine making abnormal noises, a little weaker perhaps?.
And yeah, before taking your car to the track, learn your car.
Hope your car is alright.

The engine seems to be fine, it's not making any abnormal noises or anything, plus the fastest runs were after the mishifting. I have the 60ft times, but not on me right now, I'll see if I have any time slips left in the car. Well it's good to hear that I didn't do much damage to the clutch. I really want to get a short shifter though because the one I have now is kinda long, and yeah I have to get way more practice. Thanks guys

They are, you guys are just bad at driving.

15.7 is like a time a F22a6 with i/h/e, some head and PnP work will get to. I know stock a6's to hit very low 16's.

Practice is your best friend.

eeeesh .. dropping it into 1st is sooooo bad.. but if it drives ok and doesnt make any new noises .. I wouldnt bother pulling it out to change it just yet. Its pretty hard to even get into 1st when your moving .. you must have SLAMMED it into gear pretty hard.. :X

I think 15.1 sec is a pretty good time for how much the car weighs and the kind of tires I have on there. If I were to get some decent tires and a good short shifter I could easily drop that time. My car sits really high too, abnormally high in the front...I don't know why but there is a big gap. Anyway I know I have to practice more and then I could probably hit a high 14 with a good run.
