timing belt help(searched)
ok i have a 1992 civic cx hb with a b16 sir2. it is bone stock right now besides i/e. i was driving around yesterday and i heard a weird noise so i shut it off and coasted into a parking lot. i popped my hood and saw my timing belt was near snapping so i just towed it home. i later found out my tensioner had failed and the belt had rubbed on something.i decided just to order a oem timing belt pakage with belt, tensioner,& water pump. so i finally got it in and i dont have the money to have it installed.alls i have is a jack and jack stands. i have no motor hoist or lift.i was wondering if it was possible to do it without taking out the whole engine. and if its not to much trouble some pics or a "how to" step by step. plz help. this is my daily driver and i really need it running again. thank you
The engine doesn't have to be removed. (though it pays about 3 hours labor) With the engine in the car, it would take a trained mechanic about 1 hour to do that job.
I don't recommend a timing belt job for a first timer with out the proper tools and knowledge, I would recommend you find a professional to do the job for you. I know you might not have much money, even more reason for you not to go in there and screw something up costing you much more money down the line.
I would have to assume there is a step by step somewhere online, so if you do try to do it yourself, search harder.
