Default SRS Light Question

My SRS light recenlty came on and won't go off. I was reading through my Civic owners manual and it states that you need to take your civic in after it is 10 years old to have the SRS system checked out. My car was exactly 10 years old when the light came on. Do you think the SRS light comes on automatically at the 10 year mark because Honda recommends the system be checked out after 10 years?

Reset it using this (instead of MES connecter use a paperclip bent into a U shape)

If it relights after that then see a specialist.

Never heard the 10 years thing before though.

LOL! It says not to use a jumper wire right in the directions. Why is that?

Now you're getting it

There is always a simple way around a complex problem

I set my SRS light as described above and it comes on for a few seconds after startup every time as it should, before going out, isn't alchemy great

Because if you jump the wrong pins then your going to have an unexpected airbag in your face.
And "macsmurray" you need to remove that picture before AHM finds it and comes after you. Reposting their info is not allowed

No it's not, but search and see how many airbags blow up in peoples faces (not many).

Follow the directions and you'll be fine (it's not difficult)

Ive got a 99 SI with the same problem, except its not 10 years old yet. Sorry to jump in the tread with another question, but I figured it would be better than starting another one with the same issue. Its been on for the past year. I really dont care if i have an airbag, but NY safety inspectors are *****. How can I get it to go away? Sorry again for piggy-backing DANgerous.

Will the inspectors be able to tell it has been done?
