soft brakes, bled twice
My car is a 98 GSR but with a 97 abs pump from a GS. Since the 97 prop valve and MC are a different from the 97 GS ones I had to use like 3 or 4 97 GS brake lines and 3 or 4 98 GSR brake lines for the ones that run to and from the ABS pump. (Long story of why I did this
) So anyway I bled everything but the ABS pump because the 97 pump is a seperate thing from the regular brake system (meaning your brakes will be fine even if the ABS doesnt have fluid in it) but I'm wondering if my mixing-and-matching would make it so that I *would* need to bleed the ABS for the brakes to work? Because I bled everything twice and the pedal is still soft, it brakes but not very good and the pedal goes to the floor. TIA, sorry for the long post
Also, I heard that you gotta torque brake lines lightly, is that true? Because I did it hard
One last thing, after I bled the brakes the pedal felt stiff and normal, but after driving for a tiny bit it turned soft.
cliffs - I mixed and matched 97 GS and 98 GSR brake/abs systems, bled everything twice, pedal is still soft

once i did my buddys braided brake steel lines, his master cylinder had no issues.we bleed it,later he had his pedal very soft.
we were confused because his pedal was suppose to get harder.we tried the compressor bleeder, manual bleeding, etc....
he decided to buy a new master and problem was gone.just giving you one of my experiences!

Oh I see... yea I was suspecting MC myself, because I heard that when you do brake stuff that requires pumping, the MC goes out a lot of times, and that's the last thing I can think of that would be bad... I guess I'll have to try replacing it. But if the MC was bad, would it leak or lose fluid over time? Because I don't see any leaks, and the pedal pressure doesn't seem to be getting any softer than it already is.

Hmm I see... now that I looked today, it looks like it might be leaking very slowly from between the MC and booster. Also, I read/heard you gotta bleed the MC seperately from the rest of the brake system after doing something like disconnecting the brake lines from it like I did.
