How can we copy a computer chip???

I have a p28 ECU and the chip runs great, my buddy wants to buy the computer but I want to make another one for myself.
How can we copy a computer chip???
can it be done?

Put the chip on a chip burner. GET. Save as rom. Burn rom to new chip.

You need a $70 chip burner to do it. Or find someone with a burner (everyone has one) that's not too lazy.
