225/45R16 on ITR? any experience?
Hi fellow drivers,
I have problems getting 215/45R16 in my area. Have anyone of u had experience running 225 tyres on JDM 16" wheels? Have u encountered any rubbings?
Looking at 225/45R16 from AD07
Have u guys came across any other good tyres that is available in 215/45R16 or 225/45R16?
*tried doing a search but returned nothing relevant*

225/45/16 depending on how low u r going should be fine. But your fenders should be rolled if you're playing with these sizes considering that u have lowered your car. All depends on the offset of your wheels and the height of your ride.

http://www.vulcantire.com <--Azenis RT615 at a good price in 215-45-16.
I'd go for that before I went to 225-45. Your speedo will be slightly off, and you'll be travelling at a speed slightly faster than your speedo says. Knowing how most of you hot shoes drive, anyway, I wouldn't want to see you getting a ticket because you're already used to pushing the envelope.
I've seen 225-50-16 on a roadgoing K motor ITR just so he could keep the speedo accurate, and it worked fine on Spoon +45 wheels. So I'd think you're probably be OK w/225's on your JDM +55 wheels if you are at normal ride height.

225/45-16 is too big and will probably rub.
As noted above, 215/45-16 is available for the Falken Azenis RT-615. If you want a supersticky tire that grips like a sonofabitch on dry pavement, that's the one to get.
If you would prefer to trade off some dry traction for much longer treadlife and better wet traction, another tire available in that size is the Dunlop Direzza DZ101. It's a budget performance tire, similar to the Yokohama ES100, Kumho SPT, etc.
Lots of tires are available in 205/45-16 which will also work on the ITR just fine. Tires available in that size, and best for the price, include the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 (excellent dry traction, outstanding wet traction, excellent treadlife, somewhat expensive but worth it) and the Kumho Ecsta SPT (very good dry traction, excellent wet traction, excellent treadlife, at a great price).

The outer diameter is 1.5 percent smaller than stock, and any other 225/40-16 won't stick as well as the 215/45-16 Azenis. I wouldn't...

Yes, it is, now. The DC2 ITR owners were directly responsible for it, too.

I believe that size became available in March. Someone posted here about getting them, a few weeks before Vulcan's website said so.
Vulcan shows the release dates for upcoming size introductions. Ever since the RT-615 was introduced, it said that they would be available (I forget whether it originally said first quarter or second quarter of this year).

How so? Vulcan planned to make it available early on. One would assume they already knew how many they were selling of the old RT-215 in that size. 215/45-16 is the 16" size normally used by those with all Integras (not just the ITR) as well as '96-00 Civics, so we ITR owners are not the only ones using it.

Well, they had to get Falken to make it, first. You'd think it would be common sense to make Toyo RA1 in 225-45-15, too, but it wasn't. It took a campaign before they made the molds.

I'm just relaying what they've said themselves.

They fit really well.
And they handle well too. I've used this tire size on my R for 4 years now. No rubbing. Great handling.
Biggest problem is finding tires in that size.
BPR - who is getting 215/45-15 A048Rs next
