What do you use to bleed your brakes (power bleeder, speed bleeders, nothing) ?
Just wondering what u guys use to bleed ur brakes. I was looking at speedbleeders but I sorta don't trust it
was also looking at the motive products power bleeder, looks pretty cool

50 bucks tho. But then, that's not that much of a ridiculous price or anything.

before the old search archives got erased, people reported a little trouble with sealing up the brake fluid reservoir with that thing.. i'd go with a vacuum bleeder
i used the power bleeder once and all it did was drip brake fluid around the master cylinder- it's very hard (for me at least) to get a good seal
now i use a vacuum bleeder from actron- works like a champ

They work better than another person...

Speedbleeders
If you don't trust, just tighten, then go press on the pedal hard, then check around the threads for leaks... I haven't had any yet.

Hell yea speed bleeders own... I've had them on my car for about 5,000 mile and no leaks at all. Also had them on my GSR for about 20,000 miles and no leaks.

i just heard stories where the valve on the speedbleeder would leak. perhaps this was a earlier problem that has been remedied since then?

I use a long (2~3 feet) rubber hose and a empty 2 liter soda bottle......
Old fashion way to pump and NEVER have a problem ( btw...I can do it just by myself)

No leaks yet.
The red goo around the threads may wear out over time... but when tightened... the checkvalve section and the threaded section of the screw will not cause brake failure.

speedbleeder started selling little bottles of thread sealant to prevent leakage. all the leakage problems were a result of the sealant getting worn out after so many loosen/tighten cycles for bleeding. i'm very happy with my speedbleeders, easy and fast and no mess.
i've always just used a 10mm wrench, a couple feet of flexible tubing, and a friend. i have, however, heard very good things about speedbleeders and, in fact, a set of those might be my next purchase.
I use a Mighty Vac ($40 at Pep Boys) Hook it up to the bleeder, pump it to 70psi suction then open the bleeder. This is the cleanest way I have found for 1 man bleeding. You just need a new hose every few times to avoid seeing air bubbles.

i have tried the actron vacum pump and didn't have very good results. The vacum pump would suck air around the threads on the bleed screw and then the air bubbles would come back out the bleed tube with the fluid, so it appeared that you still had air in the system. Next, i tried the power bleeder, which worked better than the vacum pump, but i did have some trouble with the cap leaking. I think i am gonna try the speedbleeders next, even though i have heard some negative comments about them leaking.
just do a gravity bleed....unscrew the bleeders and just let them drip on there own. that will gett all the air out.

I use my dealer's service department.

This is what I do, works perfect:
Go to the pet store, get a cheap $1.99 check valve.
Put it inline with some vacuum hose on the stock bleeder screw.
Loosen the screw.
Pump brakes until you see/hear no more air. (Keep MC full!)
Tighten screw.

won't work, air can get sucked back in past the threads on the bleeder. Now if some sort of thread sealant was used, it would be alright.
BTW Speedbleeders come with some sort of thread sealant on the threads.

Tried the two person route, had trouble getting all of the air out. Got a Motive power bleeder- worked like a charm.
You do need to pump it up to 15-20psi without brake fluid to check for leaks. Make sure you put in enough brake fluid! It sucks-literally-to be at the back of the car and run out of brake fluid in the power bleeder.
Had a little trouble getting my clutch master cylinder to seal, putting the universal cap on crossways (not perpindicular or straight) seemed to work the best.
