HID Issues
I have 9006 HID bulbs along with ballasts and ignitors. The units will power up and work in my 98 Honda Accord but when I put them in my 94 Accord they won't power up at all. I've tried different grounding points. I've checked the fuses on the HID wiring harness and in the Accord fuse box and they are the same. I've tried switching the way the factory plug plugs into the HID bulb but the units still won't power up in the 94 but will in the 98. I appreciate any help I can get in getting these to work in my 94 Accord.
That's what I thought at first when I hooked it up to my 94. Before I returned it I tested it in my 98 Accord and it works fine in the 98 Accord. I've tired different grounding points on my 94 and I've checked the fuses and also I've turned the factory plug around so that it goes in reveresed but it still won't work in the 94 but it will work in the 98.
Question, if you plug the factory lights back up will they work? The reason that I'm asking is to see if you are still getting power through the factory wiring? If not you might have to run a separate switch to turn on your HID or you might be able to do it with a relay. Just a thought!!
Well I have tried other 9006 bulbs and they light up fine. I even swapped batteries with the 98 thinking that the 94 battery may be on it's way out. That didn't solve the issues either. I've tried everything I know to do. It may be in that the wiring of the 94 can't ignite the hids. I don't know for sure but I would like to get them to work in the 94. Thaks for the replies.

in your 94?
in your 94?
Yes I have tried other 9006 bulbs in the 94 and they light up normally. The kit works without any issues as long as it's in the 98 Accord. When I put the kit in the 94 it won't work but regular 9006 bulbs do work in the 94. It's just the HID kit that won't work in the 94.

Might want to check both harness with a volt meter, It's possible you could have a slight voltage drop, where your getting power, but not enough power to power up the ballast. Check your connectors to. It may not be making good contact. A problem like this, you just got trace back to the point of where your loseing power. If it worked on your 98, it should work with your 94, if everything is ok.

I might of missed something here, but what ballast are you using and are you using a wire harness with it?
Are you running a seperate ground wire, or is it a plug?
If a seperate ground wire then make sure you got a good ground, don't simply lean the wires onto a painted area. If the ground is too short, then scratch the paint off and try again.
Sounds like a grounding issue if you are 100% that the ballast is fully functional.
Hope this helps.

I relly appreciate the help. I'll test out the factory harness for it's voltage but I tested the HID kit and the HID voltage is fine.
As far as ground goes I did the scratching off of the paint and that didn't help. Thanks for the suggestions keep them coming.

ok.
So if you put the positive and negative wires directly to the battery the ballast works?
If yes, which means they work, then just extend the wires and connect them to the battery directly.
If no, then the ballast don't work
You can use a relay or switch to control the first suggestion.

All newer HID kits for older and newer vehicals requires you to up the fuse to 25amps for them to work properly. I just know this from reading directions from a newer kit that i installed for my friend and it even came with the fuses. Try it and it will work.

I'm curious to know what ballast you are referring to. Our wire harness use fuses that limit the amperage to 15A right before the ballast. We use nothing but OEM ballasts from the latest cars...slim denso, matsushita and hella, and all of them fire up.
I don't think it's an amperage issue but a ground issue....let us know how it goes.

i HAD THE Same problem on my car the when i went to stole the hids of my Ex g/f accord they wont work on my 94 so the way i did it i cut the wire of 00 and put it on mine and now it works fine like take the 9006 connector of the 98 and put it on your car and it should work
Thanks for the suggestions. I've tried the direct from battery and that still doesn't work. I'll try upping the fuse 25 becasuse right now the fuses are 20. I'll have to think about cuttying the 9006 connector though. I may try to find a wrecked Accord and get the connector from that one instead of cutting the one on my 98. I'll definitely keep you guys posted on the results.
It should not be this much problem to fire up some HIDs.
So you said the ballast wont start when you put them directly to the battery?
Well if so the ballast is no good.

That's what I thought as well but they work flawlessly in my 98 and they are still hooked up in my 98 and work everytime I use them. I know for a fact that the ballasts and ingitors and bulbs are good because they work in the 98 but not in the 94. I've even switched batteries but that didn't help. I've tried switching the positive and negative wires but that didn't work either. I'm going to find some 98-00 9006 bulb clips and put them on my 94 and see if that works but first I'm going to see if the 94 9006 clip may not be making full contact with the HID bulb. I may trim some off the top of the clip if necessary. Thanks agian for all the help.
