jdm type r swap? try to get oem ecu, or just a chipped p28? and other questions
ok. i've had a delsol with a gsr swap for over 6yrs, didn't do it myself, next car(hb) i'm wanting to go with a jdm type r swap. question is, will it be better to get the ecu for that exact engine, or just do a p28 chipped? also, would i order the chipped ecu for my exact specs? and another one, this may make me sound like a total idiot, once the ecu is burnt one time for example a type r swap in a eg, can it be reburnt later on if i decide to do internal stuff to the engine? i have my fire extinguisher handy in case of extreme flaming.
your car = OBD1?
if it is stick with the P28/P30 with a chip and tune it.
if it's OBD2 then you can try to get an OBD2a P73 (good luck) or convert to a P28/P30 like above.
Some chips you can reprogram some you can not. It all depends on where you ge the chip and what they use.

obd1, it's a 95 si hatch. not sure if i want to do the swap in that or locate a vx and just strip it. i'd hate to strip down an si hatch, i kinda am partial to it as an everyday driver.
listen to relic. also, im gonna add, that most chipped ecu's are socketed to accept the chip instead of the chip soldered straight to the board, so swapping the chip down the road for another setup is easily done. either way its a good idea to get it tuned afterwards.

Personally I'd try to locate a CX hatch and go from there.
VXs are getting more and more desirable in their stock form with the fuel prices
