Default Valve Tap

Ever since I installed my H22 I have had a valve tapping noise. I have adjusted the valves twice (before install and 4,000 miles later) no help. I haven't had time to do a compression test but it was done prior to install approximately 180-185 across the board.

Is this common with H22's? Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this? I plan on doing the compression test again this weekend to get a better idea but the engine hasn't seen high revs to many times since install and no missed shifts. I am at a loss.

Oh yeah and I did search but didn't find to many answers to this.

well how loud is it? is it really loud or is it quite but you can still hear it kinda. cause your not gonna get rid of it completly. in my experience. i never do my own adjustments on my valves but i take it to shops and it sounds ALOT better when they are done with it. they told me that you still gonna hear a lil bit they said it normal just not that loud. hope that helps......

I would say it's loud, but I am use to my old motor where I could hear it but it was still pretty quiet. I know I can't get rid of it completely but would like to get it quieter. All valves are within specs we triple checked them just to be certain.

I know I could take it in to have them adjusted but unfortunately college tuition is way to high and I am consistently broke.

It is possible that what you're hearing is simply the injectors firing.

I guess I will have to get out the stethoscope and take a listen. Thanks for the advice.
