Default No start problem on 95 EX

Hey everyone!

Got a problem with the new old car, a 95 EX coupe 5-speed with 112K miles. We got it about 2 months ago, so we don't have alot of history, other than it was on the lot for about 7 months and got used so little that the battery died (it came w/a new one)

It has develloped a problem that is getting much worse. When you turn the key, the lights dim, but the starter motor doesn't engage. Makes no difference if you are in gear or not, so I'm guessing the clutch switch is ok, maybe a starter relay? Unfortunatly, I have no repair manual for one of these cars, and I'm so broke from starting a business a few weeks ago that I may only get one shot at fixing this. I do have a voltage meter if I can test the relay. Where is it, and how do you test it? Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Aaron

If you take a ONE SHOT guess .. then its probably gonna be wrong ..

Get the $15 manual from AutoZone / Advanced Auto and it will explain EXACTLY how you can test the system and also a troubleshooting guide on WHAT you should probably be testing ..

For most electrical you prob. only need a continuity tester and a circuit tester .. both cheap tools ...

I've already got plenty of electrical testing tools from fixing up my old '75 Volvo (immagine that, a 30 year old Euro with bad wiring )

Do these symptoms sound consistant with a bad starter relay?

I know one shot sucks, but if you just started a business, a $15 shop manual is several meals for myself and my wife. In a few weeks we will have more money, but the car is getting very hard to get going
