JDM CD6 GAUGES
i got a new JDM CD6 aaccord gauge cluster today but on left side there is a warning light ive never seen looks like box shpe with outlets on each end and heat waves above it WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? and the E-brake not only looks different but does not light up when engauged not to mention kph oly and almost 8 grand redline also no cruise control light
the CEL's are different in Japan....that box w/ outles is your CEL...
your ebrake should light up -check the sensor underneath the center console.

Do you really expect that every JDM part fits right on USDM parts?.... different language, different stuff.... even when things can be exactly the same thing... expect something to be different or need some customizing or something.....

that is a light for a catalytic temp sensor, in japan they run heated catalytic converters.

no, jdm clusters still use identical cel located in the same spot as a us cluster
as for ebrake, check the ebrake switch as metioned above or check instrument cluster bulb...

heated catalytic converters? dude, have you ever felt a cat? there is NO need to heat it -no electical heating core could get it hotter than exhaust gases...im calling BS on this "haeated cat" thing
and the CEL light on japanese cars is slightly different.

err...what? negative.
us cluster

japan cluster

and for clarities sake, the icon in question

ok, so i cant find it right now, but i have read multiple times that the reason for that light is because japanese cars use a heating element or something similar in or around the catalytic converter to get the temp up when the car has just been started.

ok..
well, in my defense, im only going on the Cel from a few non-honda clusteres i have seen....the shape was similar but it was slightly different....on further review, its that there is no "check" in the japanese version, but instead is either a lightening bolt or something....i thought it was different as well, but i guess i was wrong
and the cat thing is kind of intriguing....i can understand why you would maybe want the cat to be hot ASAP.....but it doesnt make sense to have a heating element....the limiting factor is really the metal used in the cat and its conductivity....not the source of the heat. i doube any heating unit could get as hot as blue flames coming out of the exhaust ports...espeically with the smaller diameter stock piping keeping things so hot.....
are you sure it has nothing to do with the O2 sensor and it being too hot?....im really intrigued by this...

ok, so i found one thread that i read, i was incorrect.
it apperantly is a catalytic converter overheating warning light
comes on when the cat gets too hot or needs replacement i guess..

I have the JDM cluster installed on my 1996 Accord. I also have an H22 engine with OBDI ECU which required me to remove one of the TWO catalytic converter O2 sensors. I do beleive this lgiht is letting me know the O2 is busted, orr catalytic is removed. Is your vehicle 100% stock? Is your vehicle OBDII or OBDI? I also found that the US black platic cover should fit nicely in the JDM clusters place and should hide the light.
