Default dealer claimed 197 mph top speed <do they always do this?>

so I went to look at the new Si's and the dealer was claiming a 197 mph top speed on them.

I know this is pretty silly :-/ Is there a speed limiter on the 06 Si?

This is the same dealer that wants 26k for an Si w/out navigation.
It's tough to seriously consider a car when they barely let you sit in them if they even have them on their lot.

Is an EX worth driving just for comparison or are they really totally different cars?

Just my opinion...
Don't waster your time driving the EX if you're interested in the Si. They're TOTALLY different cars. And I agree about the 197, they probably meant horsepower not MPH. Furthermore, I kinda find it hard to believe that it would reach 157 MPH either. As much as I love my Si, I just don't think it's possible.

An Si won't actually go 157 mph. The 157 mph was the result of a Temple of VTEC test to determine if there's a limiter and how fast the car's gearing could theoretically allow it to go. They did the test on a dyno which meant the car wasn't moving. In the real world, drag would make the top speed much lower.

Yes. I watched that exact video.

Ive had mine up to 130 in a relatively easy way. Im almost positive this can reach speeds in excess of 140 if the conditions are right (cold, slgiht downhill, long straight highway etc etc.)

I don't doubt it could get over 140 on pavement. I have tried to top mine out a couple of times, but run out of straight pavement before I get over 130. (too many hills and curves here, cant afford a ticket going 120+)

The fastest I've been able to hit is 131mph. The problem with the Si is that 6th gear has such a large drop in revs, bringing the revs down to just below the factory VTEC point. I'm sure with Hondata tuning the VTEC point will be shifted down, and the rev range moved up, so we can easily have the power in 6th gear to pull past our sad 131mph factory top speed.
