I got this seibon CF hood when I ordered a VIS from prostreet.

They've been in the process of getting me a new hood shipped, but they said it may take up to 3 months to complete. I was thinking of just fiber glassing the chipped piece back on, then paint the sides of the hood and leave the middle CF showing. Pretty much a custom paint job. My car is a 00 Civic Silver color. If I were to paint the sides of my hood, what color do you think it should be? I was thinking Silver to match the car, but my friend was saying charcoal grey to have a gradual color change thing going. Also, how much do you think it'll cost? Just thinking of doing this and using the hood until the new one comes... if ever.

just try what you are saying and paint it black around the edges or a dark color so its not so noticeable

 

i hate half painted cf hoods...******* ugly imo - but its your car

 

have you ever seen cars at car shows that are painted the body color on the lower parts of the hood and the CF is showing in the raised middle? That's what I was thinking, so the 2 lowered parts of the hood would be some dark color, then the raised middle is still the CF. What dark color do you suggest? charcoal grey like my friend said?

ohhh ok. The chipped piece is roughly 1 inch long anyhow. I guess I'll look for a tone close to the CF tones. Do you have a picture of a hood with that bordering?

 

no I have seen some that come that way though... with a border that kind of fades from cf to black gel coat. Its just a suggestion, do whatever you like of course.

In THEORY they'll be sending one. My claim is that it was damaged, and UPS made the recipient sign for it and left before the recipient was given a chance to inspect the hood. I'm just trying to think of what to do since I have this busted hood lying around in the body shop's garage. My main reason for getting the hood is for the appearance, although it'll have some mods to it, not enough to pull a fast one on the quarter.
