not gonna happen.

TI is too expensive to " practice" on unless you REALLY have a purpose welding it i.e military

My welding teacher worked on airplanes. They made alot of things with the Titanium. They would get 1"x6" test strips to test welds on. They ended up having a **** load of them and he made all kinds stuff like double wall beer steins and all kind of cool stuff. I wish I took a picture of it. It looked cool. On the last class he let us all try to tig it. It was easy but it likes to hold the filler in the puddle.

i didnt mean practice. i know a bunch of members own shops and whatnot and i figure they must have made something in ti, whether by customer request or for their own car. maybe ti exhaust even?

my dad bought me the aluminum version of the titan because somebody who raced bmx at the track i did had a ti-lite(titanium bike) that cracked right by the headset. my aluminum titan never cracked no matter what i did to it. i actually still have it but it has cheap parts on it now. the good parts are on my cannondale(bmx bike) now.

The guy that I work for(build drag cars), welds Ti all day long as his usual day job. He builds the airframe for the F-22 Raptor fighter plane. The frame consists of two identical pieces, 3000 lbs each when they are done, and cost 3.8 million a piece!
He just tacks stuff together, then it goes into a huge room that is filled with shielding gas, and is all laser welded. Being he works with it all day...we have a bunch laying around the shop. Use it for spacers, shims, etc. Defenitely expensive stuff tho!
