I am taking my h22 head off and i have taken care of the bolts but something seems to be keeping it stuck in there.

is there anything else to remove besides the bolts that i can't see??

Have you taken off the timing belt? Also do you have the intake manifold bracket bolt undone?

 

theres 2 dowel pins that align the head to the block... its probably just stuck on those.

yes belt removed, where is the intake manifold bracket bolt?

did you get that bracket on the timing belt side above the motor mount? there is one bolt on it that goes into the head.

 

The intake manifold mounting bolt -- If you are using a Helms its on page 6-27 step 23.

The bolt is located in the back of the block...near the oil filter.

 

sadly i do not own a helms

i will have to go out and check tomorrow, it's dark out now

anywhere else to look for tricky bolts? just in case

 

there are 9 connecting the head to the intake manifold, if you're leaving the manifold in the car like I did, which seemed to be easier, but those bolts are kind of a bitch. If you're taking out the manifold with the head, I would concur to the manifold bracket underneath the intake.

 

if the intake, exhaust manifold is off along with the head bolts, you need to find a spot to pry the head out. Its stuck on the gasket on the block (im assuming you have timing belt, ac belt, etc taken off and nothing holding it)

 

take the thermostat housing off the head also
