New to obd-1
I'm wondering how do i get my engine codes off. I really liked obd0 just counting the blinking lights. Now i hear i have to take it to advanced or autozone but will they be able to get the code off my ecu, someone told me most cars have a connection under the dash i wont have this correct? I need some type of answers because sometimes my car goes into limp mode and i have to reset ecu. Did it yesterday and i hate having to pull off on highway . Tia
There should be a yellow plug in your engine bay on the drivers side by the fender. That's the plug you jump to check codes. The plug that's under the dash is in EG's and EK's.
Take pin D4 (OBD1 service connector wire) and ground it. You can do this by unpinning it and grounding it. Or you can just tap a wire into it and ground it that way. This will make the CEL on your dash blink like it was an OBD1 vehicle.
I got 2 wires built into my harness by rywire for this jumper thing. But what kind of light do i need to hook up to these. Should i just take the obd0 ecu light out of ecu and connect it to these wires?
