Default Better for the environment...

I just completed my Senior Project and it was to test the emissions from my '95 EX before and after some very common mods. Well, I smogged it when it was stock and then I smogged it after I installed an intake (AEM V2), header (DC Sports), high flow cat (Random Technology), and exhaust (Tanabe), and the car put out less emissions AFTER the parts than it did before!! I am thinking that it is because the parts are new, but still, with everybody modding their cars today, we are actually being nicer to the environment. I just figured I would share this and it is messed up that we get pulled over for "too loud exhausts" and "street racing," when in fact, our mods are better for everyone!!

P.S. I know it was a lame topic, but oh well.

basing a statement off of one car is not fact....If you were to do it to a group of cars, then the results would have more merit......

agreed, but still, he has a point. to the OP, you should test again after 6 months or so of driving, just to see how the new components perform once they've been used a bit, mainly the cat.

I have an exhaust in my car, and I love the sound. But also, around the residential area where I live, I put my preferences on the side and I respect it, I go on higher gears just as slow as I am supposed to go so the car doesn't make noise.
The exhaust is wrong, it's sonorous pollution actually.
Now, you tell me that with intake, header, high performance cat and exhaust the car is nicer to the environment?!...man... get you *** back in the class to learn more about cars....
So, I can only agree with Phateless when he mentioned to check the car in a few months.

nice of you not tearing up the street

but again, exhaust have almost nothing to do with smog control.

All the resonator and muffling device is for sounds cancellation

Random tech is one of the very small amount of aftermarket emission thing that works wonders. Probably do a smog check later down the line to check how longit last

Iam7head, what I meant about the exhaust was that he said that loud exhaust and racing were actually "contributing" to the environment.
I am no angel here, that's for sure. I have header and exhaust, but never touched the cat and I am not willing to mess up emissions.
Peace out.....

same here. i live in cali, i was born and raised in berkeley, i think hybrids are the greatest thing since sliced bread. if everybody drove gas sippers like we do, maybe we wouldn't even need hybrids in the first place.

the newer cat was probably the cause of lowered emissions... if u had the time, replace just that 1 unit w/ your older, original cat & do the test again... u will C that it'll be closer to your Before install test...
