Road race pads for a type r?
So i went to my hpde with hawk hps and just about cooked them off the car.
So my question is what should i be running.. I had to quit pushing the car hard because my breaking zones were getting rather far back ..

Hawk Blue 9012 and Cobalt Spec VR (discontinued and being replaced with Spec XR in June) are excellent pads. If you do not find those suffient (which I dont believe will happen), then you may want to consider a combination such as Hawk HT-10 in the front and Hawk Blue 9012 in the rear.
Here are some Hawk part numbers for you to make life a bit easier if you decide to go with them:
Hawk Blue ITR Front: HB143E.680
Hawk Blue ITR Rear: HB145E.570
Hawk Black ITR Rear: HB145M.570
Hawk HT-10 ITR Front: HB143S.680

No thanks I'll pass. Had 'em and hated the toxic dust they coated the whole car with. And god forbid you get the dust wet it'll never come off and turn everything it's coated a nifty shade of rust brown.
I'll stick with Cobalt VR's until they are replaced with the new compound. Plus the VR's were compatible with the Sports so if you wanted you could swap pads at the track with no issues.

i agree about the dust. I have a set of track wheels I don't bother to clean now because of the dust on them. I haven't tried any of the cobalt pads or anything but I still like the blues. Someone on here once said "they're like the hand of God stopping your car" They do a good enough job stopping the car for me to take a if it ain't broke don't fix it attitude about them. I think you'll be pleased with blues or a racing compound from Cobalt or Carbotech. I'ev seen plenty of people in the RR/AX forum use all 3 types with positive results.
And to the OP, definately don't use HPS. I use those on the street and there's no way they'll handle track temps

Same here; never a problem with either the VR's (Now) or the GT-Sports. Very nice pad for the money
. But, due to the fact they are discontinued I would probably go with one of Carbotech's pads until the new VR's are out. Contact .RJ, I believe he runs carbotechs and gave me a good deal of info when I was looking into them
Also the blues arent so bad, I have an extra set as backups for when my VR's decide to go. They did however crack a set of front rotors on me. Granted it was the last event of the season and the rotors had seen plenty of abuse already

Hawk blues eat cold rotors and are hard on the finish of rims.
If you use them - don't use them on the street and use a separate set of track rims
