whats up with all the hoods not sitting flush with the fenders near the windshield? Does it actually have an effect on anything?

it's an old hot rod cowl induction trick. It works great with itbs, cause it lets the hot air out at low speeds and creates a vac to let cold air in at higher speeds. It dropped my friends intake temps dramatically in his itb'd sohc
